Import from China to New Zealand.
A small, demanding market with clear rules. We solve the Chinese side and tell you what you'll pay before you buy.
How the cost is calculated
New Zealand values imported goods on a CIF basis — product, freight and insurance. On that base you pay 15 % GST, plus duty where it applies: most everyday goods sit around 5 % unless a trade agreement applies. Below NZ$1,000 the treatment is different and simpler.
Official figures are published by New Zealand Customs and do change; confirm them for your specific product before closing the purchase.
Biosecurity: the detail that holds shipments
New Zealand is among the strictest countries in the world on biosecurity. Timber, packaging, plant or animal derived goods — even dirt on a used machine — can hold a container at the port. It is solved at origin: treated and certified packaging, clean container. We control that at the factory, so you don't have to fight it at the port.

FAQ
How much GST do I pay importing into New Zealand?
GST is 15 % and is calculated on the value of the goods plus freight, insurance and duty. Shipments above NZ$1,000 pay duty and taxes on entry.
Confirm the duty rate for your specific product with New Zealand Customs before buying.
What is the biosecurity process?
It's the MPI check that prevents pests and organisms entering. It mainly affects timber packaging, which must be treated and marked, and the cleanliness of used machinery.
It's the most common cause of port holds, and it is entirely preventable at the factory.
How long does shipping from China to New Zealand take?
Two to four weeks of sea transit depending on port and route, plus production and clearance.
Is it worth it for small volumes?
With consolidated cargo, yes. It's the usual model for the New Zealand market, where order volumes tend to be smaller than in the Americas.
